A BIT ABOUT US

WORKING TOWARDS A BETTER TOMORROW

Here at AfroTechie, we understand that learning and understanding STEM is vital in our digital age. We want to be a catalyst for greater STEM literacy in minority and low-income communities, and since our beginnings in 2016, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, our vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

LEANDRA HALL

Here at AfroTechie, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little idea. Our founder had that idea sitting on her stairwell contemplating what should be her Girl Scout Silver Award project in 2016. Then it came to her. She knew that she had been fortunate enough to have been the given the opportunity to work with robots and coding through her middle school. She realized that there were other kids like her who would not be able to have that opportunity because of their socioeconomic background. She sought to change that. That little idea then became  AfroTechie which aims to teach children in underprivileged communities coding and robotics.  Since then Leandra has partnered with the non-profit organization BotsForAll and CodeFeverMiami to spread our mission. Outside of her work in AfroTechie, she is an artist, writer, and a musician. Leandra has been an avid fencer for over four years and She also enjoys participating in her high school theater productions.
